Custom shop maintenance intervals aren't overriding the OEM intervals

You configured custom shop intervals (e.g., earlier oil change), but Shift is still showing the OEM interval for that vehicle.

Problem

You configured custom shop intervals (e.g., earlier oil change), but Shift is still showing the OEM interval for that vehicle.

Cause

Two reasons. (1) Shop intervals only override OEM when they are MORE aggressive (shorter) than OEM. (2) When viewing 'Severe' intervals, Shift currently shows the OEM severe interval rather than the shop interval — this is a UI behavior we're updating in an upcoming release.

Resolution

  1. Confirm your shop interval is shorter than the OEM interval for that service. If the OEM interval is more aggressive, OEM wins.
  2. Make sure you've set both a mileage interval and a time interval — mileage alone won't always trigger an override.
  3. If you're looking at the 'Severe' interval column and it shows OEM values, that's expected for now — the upcoming release will display your shop interval here too.
  4. Whether to apply severe intervals to a vehicle depends on each manufacturer's definition of severe service and the vehicle's actual usage. Make this decision case-by-case.
