Inviting team members and assigning roles (manager, admin)

Trying to add a new team member but: (a) the invite never arrives, (b) the invite fails when the role is set to 'Manager,' or (c) you're not sure where to start.

Problem

Trying to add a new team member but: (a) the invite never arrives, (b) the invite fails when the role is set to 'Manager,' or (c) you're not sure where to start.

Cause

Three known causes. (a) Invite emails frequently land in spam or promotion folders. (b) The 'Manager' role currently has a known bug during invitation — the workaround is to invite as 'Admin' instead. (c) Email mismatches between Tekmetric and Shift cause invite issues.

Resolution

  1. Go to Settings → Users and Team → Invite from app.shift-automotive.io.
  2. Use the same email the team member uses in Tekmetric — we recommend identical emails across both tools.
  3. Each team member needs their own login. If you're migrating payroll, individual logins are required.
  4. If the invite doesn't arrive, ask the invitee to check spam and promotion folders.
  5. If you need someone in a manager-level role and the 'Manager' invite is failing, click the shop name in the top right → 'Members' and add them as 'Admin' instead.
  6. If you manage multiple shops and need teammates added across stores, send the list of shop IDs to support and we'll sync them.
