Problem
The Shift extension opens and pulls up vehicle data, but clicking buttons (e.g., '+ Add to RO') doesn't push services or inspection items to the Tekmetric page. The extension appears to be loaded but is effectively read-only.
Cause
The extension's connection to the Tekmetric tab gets out of sync after navigation, tab switching, or sitting idle. Less commonly, the extension is operating on the wrong Tekmetric URL (e.g., the user is on a non-shop page).
Resolution
- Close (exit) the Shift extension popup.
- Refresh the Tekmetric tab.
- Reopen the Shift extension.
- Confirm you are on your shop's Tekmetric URL (e.g., yourshop.tekmetric.com), not a generic page.
- If still failing, refresh Chrome itself and confirm the Shift extension is on the latest version (see 'Update the Shift extension' article).
- If the issue persists across multiple vehicles, contact support with the VIN you tested and we'll review logs.
